Day 7

North Providence, RI

6 days, 8 hours and 10 minutes until the polls open here in the US. Yep, I'm counting the minutes.

I believe these are hawks of some kind, but I can't find a close match to identify them. Any help is appreciated.

**Update: it is indeed a red-shouldered hawk...click 'next' for a brighter version.

Yes, it is without a doubt a Red-shouldered Hawk. I took the liberty of editing your photo a little, lightening it up somewhat and bringing some contrast out. And here is what I see: A large, long-winged hawk, with barring on darki wings. Pale underparts. Narrowly banded tail. According to the National Audobon Society, that fits the description of a Red-shouldered Hawk to a T.
I am sending you my edited copy :)
