A common trick in all-grain home brewing is to take the stainless steel woven jacket off of a water supply line and use it in the mash tun to keep the grain husks in there where they belong. I used this with a stainless steel mesh "splash guard" from one of the chain kitchen/bath stores. This was tucked underneath it to help protect it from dammage during the mash process.
