PICT0370.JPE

Copenhagen, Denmark

The woman in the picture is the mother of an incredibly sweet and highly-respected familiy. Her children are in the same institution as my children, so I meet either her or her husband almost daily. For this reason I was very reluctant to publish - or even shoot - this image. I felt very much like betraying friends. Still, the image is a personal favourite of mine. In my eyes it shows something very fundamental and likeable about this part of Copenhagen: it's a place where people feel relaxed and secure enough to walk out on the balcony in very little but their undies. I like that a lot. Of course, the emergency supply of Tuborgs (and Coca Cola) also adds charm to the picture :-)

What do you think? Is a picture like this an invasion of privacy?

Thank you John. Basically, my answer to your comment is that I would feel very awkward asking for permission to post a picture like this. If she was standing in her living room when I took the picture, it would be different. I would then be lifting her out of her privacy by publishing the picture. But she is standing on her balcony looking down (from the 2nd floor) on one of the most busy streets in Copenhagen!

Invasion of privacy is a very delicate subject. I publish lots of pictures like this in my Live Web Cam gallery. I can see both sides of the argument, and agree with both.
However the fact that you know this woman changes everything. In this case I would not publish without the persons permission.

If she was naked, I would have asked her permission to publish the photo...

Great shot. Seems she is waiting for quite a while with all those Tuborgs.
