Pseudopanax is a small genus of 12–20 species of evergreen plants,
belonging to the family Araliaceae,
the majority of which are endemic to New Zealand
This is Pseudopanax lessonii - Houpara - a shrub or tree up to 6 m tall.
The leaves are crowded towards the tips of branchlets.
Juvenile plants have larger leaves than adults.
