Gate 17 - Gated Community

Albany, Auckland, NZ

We don't have many Gated Communities in Auckland, but they are beginning to spring up.
This is Point Ridge Resort, off Gills Road, Albany. It is a residential development comprising of Villa's, Townhouses and Apartments.
It has a full time manager the facilities include spa pool, heated pool, gymnasium, park grounds, community recreation room, bbq's.

Beautiful sky over this little community. These gates remind me a bit of the entries to military bases.

they are everywhere here. I don't think I'd live in a gated community. Homeowners Associations and me don't play well together. I do love the gate and the houses. REally nice colors!

Interesting concept. They are prevalent in some states, but I have not seen any in New York State. Of course home owners in New York have the legal right to shoot intruders...

A nice wide view of their entrance. The fees paid to live in a community like this can be high. High maintence on this sort of gate. And, hopefully they have a good plan to save for replacement of the recreational components, or everyone will get a big expensive special assessment. Beautiful photo!!
