Practising using B+W Camera Settings

Playing around with my camera -
I set it to Monochrome and went outside to take some photos in the garden.
It is suggested it is better to take coloured images and change them on the computer -
has anyone got any ideas about that?

Canon EOS 50D ,Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
1/250s f/5.0 at 105.0mm iso125 full exif

Beautiful in B&W Janice!
It had been suggested to me to shoot in color and convert to B&W on the computer; because then you have your choice of either color or B&W.

A very nice picture Janice. I am a big fan of b&w pictures but with 35mm film. I am still doing it. I tried with digital camera and put it in b&w with Photoshop but I prefer a lot more the real stuff, not the same at all! But 35mm films are expensive now and it take more a week before to get it develop. V
