A gate to the grave - Gate 3

Symonds Street Cemetery

I was surprised to find some graves had gates.
Most of the graves at the Symonds Street Cemetery are over 100 years old,
as this was Auckland's major public cemetery from 1840 to 1886.
The cemetery has a history of vandalism
and it was sad seeing how must damage has been done.

Nice to see the gate open! These are used as a special memorial in Kentucky.

Fabulous gate! I love old cemeteries, but am sad to hear that this has been vandalised. Many suffer this fate, unfortunately. V

Family plots seem to have gates from long ago. Same thing here. Great processing and pov. Well shot! You caught the mood. Very serene!

We will never know if a gate is needed or not. So, without knowing, the best is to foresee..! ;-))

I hate to see graveyards vandalised...it's such a shame that so many are. LOL@Johnny :o)

Is it one way only?

This must have been a spectacular gravesite at one time. The tile floor is still mostly in tact. Amazing place!! Thanks for sharing this!

Uncared and forgotten, although someone meant enough to be remembered in such a way.
