mangy coyote 4

Mange mite – Coyotes may be a host for the itch or mange mite. Female mites can burrow into the skin.
Coyotes with mange can lose their hair, which can make it difficult for them to control their body temperatures.
Mange must be extremely severe before it disables a coyote. Most coyotes can survive with the disease for a long time.

Great catch! Our little friends do have it tough and they do endure so much more than we would...

Perfectly captured, Janet, and so sad. The coyote's posture and expression speaks volumes.

Good shot and info Janet. Looks pretty scruffy though.

A wonderful shot, particularly coupled with your sympathetic commentary. Mange does NOT have to mean an animal must be killed, as happened here in Ottawa (due to hysteria and misinformation). It is treatable. This animal is beautiful, and looks a lot like my dog! V

Poor guy, he has to be miserable, He's an odd color, not like ours in the west.

Poor guy! Your shot cuts nicely through our predispositions against coyotes and shows his condition in a sympathetic manner.
