The Golden Warrior

The Golden Warrior was discovered in 1969 at a Issyk burial mound.
It is known as Kazakhstan’s Tutankhamn.
The beautiful decorations of the Golden Man revealed a rich mythology reflecting power and aesthetics of the Steppe civilization.
The replica was so attractive I only wish I had a better photo to show you.
The light was fading and my camera is not the best in low light situations.
I also wish I had stepped over a foot or so.
His head would have looked much better centered between those two windows.

An impressive and unique sculpture replica. A fascinating winged creature he rides upon.

Wow ! it is an amazing statue - I found, on line, that "it belongs to the Saka period five centuries before the birth of Christ". I like the falcon and bow and arrows - so interesting. V

Cool photo.
Clearly the gryphon thinks it should be perched on the man's shoulder.

Love the detail work on the statue. A formidable duo for sure.

a warrior astride a gryphon speaks volumes about power...the location does make a photo difficult here..

Very striking sculpture and interesting narrative. I don't think I've ever even seen the Kazakh Embassy in DC. V.

We get the picure. The story was most important for an explanation. The animal did not look pleased by his job.
