Palm Trees in New York City?

Here is the inside of the Winter Garden.
On 9/11 two of the trees perished.
Titanic javelins of steel from the North Tower pierced the skylight and embedded in the atrium floor.
The rest of the trees died from exposure to the cold.
New trees were planted when they rebuild it within a year of 9/11.
They have been replaced once since the reopening almost twenty years ago.
They grow about six inches a year so the ones that were put in after the 9/11 rebuild were cut down.
They weren't just thrown out, they were mulched and used in the gardens of local hospitals.
It is nice to see still so much respect and regard for anything to do with 9/11.

Fascinating information. So good to know how nature is cared for even in the harshest growing locations.

Neat to see a little bit of the tropics in NYC. Fun looking at all the folks milling about.

such a light and airy space...the palm grove contributes an exotic touch for sure, and adds to the vertical pull of your shot..love the giant hammock..

The trees are beautiful and the growing conditions must be near perfect.
A nice composition and very nice in the detail department.
Good information attached about 9-11.
