Hey Daddy, Look!!!

I decided against creating a new gallery for my Bronx Zoo photos.
I couldn’t decide if this image should go in my young people or cell phones gallery.
I chose this gallery because it goes along with the theme of distraction.
It made me sad to see the darling face of this little one trying to get his dad’s attention.
My photo of the gorilla from yesterday also made me sad.
The reason I converted it with the AI program was to give it some life.
The dirty glass and the gorilla’s expression were enough to get anyone down.
While I am not a fan of zoos I do think they serve a purpose.
The area surrounding the Bronx Zoo is not exactly well to do.
Having it there in the middle of NYC gives children from all incomes a chance to see and learn about animals.
There were many teenagers working there and I would imagine some of them will go on to have careers in animal science or conservation and the thought of that makes me smile.

This is an amazing photograph!
Tells a story that is sad but maybe a positive is that the young boy may have more insight and sensitivity than the dad!
Great work as always!

That kid is so cute, an appropriate photo for the times.

What a great candid. They boy looks so full of awe, yet the father is busy with his cell phone. Seems like the story of the current day. V.

Wonderful shot with the expression of the little boy. "V"
As you know I am a member of the SD Zoo. I used to have mixed feelings about it, but when I learned how much conservation and education work they do, I felt it was a good thing to be a member. For example, the California Condor was able to make come back because of breeding at the SD Safari Park which Nick referred to.

Completely agree with your sentiments Jane. Although we have a world class Zoo here we rarely go. We also have a wild animal park, which is a little more to my liking since many of the animals roam around in a very large area and the visitors are confined to a tram to see them.

a touching image..the lad's face is endearing, and full of hope...still fair enough if Dad captures images to take home...having zoos is complicated...certainly the captives don't all enjoy the limited world, so life does seem to ebb from frustrated ones like that gorilla... seeing the creatures up close does make them real though, and perhaps elicits more sympathy and support..

Toucan play that game.

Great candid...apparently they have different interests. Each at their own height. V!

You caught this so well. "V" I imagine that the man took the child to the zoo so he'll pay some attention. I went to the Bronx Zoo as a child and when I took my kids I was surprised that the neighborhood was so shoddy an that was along time ago.

Two Toucans in one shot..

Fully agree with your comments Jane

Glad the little guy had the other bird right in front of him however, great treat at that age

Great photo, Jane. I agree with your sentiment. I wish natural science was a bigger part of early education, because it is vital to protect the environment. Human lives will surely suffer without healthy ecosystems.
