Isola di San Michele

The Isola di San Michele (St. Michael) is dedicated to the dead, and is occupied only by churches and by long ranks of tombs.
While heading out to Murano and Burano we got off the Vaporato too soon and walked around this peaceful island.
After the crowds of Venice it was kind of nice to be quiet and alone with our thoughts.

I am posting this photo in honor of the Jemery Richman, the father of a little girl who was killed in the Sandy Hook School Shooting.
It’s heartbreaking that our country can’t come together and actually do something about gun control.
Two students from the Parkland School Shooting have also committed suicide.
How is it that New Zeland can agree on gun control and my country is still fighting over it?

A lovely dedication to such a sad event. Hats off to New Zealand for doing what needs to be done - let's hope the world will follow suit. V

Looks like a very well maintained cemetery. Not sure what it will take for sane laws to be passed in this country.

I can’t make sense of how money from lobbyists is more important than protecting lives. A very thoughtfully done tribute. V

I heard about the death and the others, and it is just so shocking and heartbreaking. I agree with your sentiments 100%. Why is it so hard to do something that will save so many lives??

Beautiful tribute, Jane

Yup what does it say about our government when it supports guns for all, but not healthcare for all.

A fine capture, sadly we have gun control but it hasn't stopped shootings or stabbings.

This is a moving tribute and a sobering reminder of this senseless loss here!

A superb image of this famous place where a lot of celebrities are buried...V.
Tragedy after tragedy we hope that something new will happen in USA... But...
New-Zealand leaders have perfectly managed the situation.

Very well composed. Your image emphasizes the amount of grave makers so well.
The way things are presently, we can not agree on anything. Least of all gun control.

It is sad that our country cannot come together on a basic thing like gun control.
globalgadabout26-Mar-2019 13:30
doubtless it must have been quiet here....yes guns are a big problem in the US, and too often their ready availability leads to tragedies..

This is a very sobering image, Jane.

Beautiful capture of this tranquil place, and I simply cannot make sense of what's going on here. V.
