Great capture of the real life although it is a bit sad but a great candid, Jane. V

I agree with Wim. Professional beggar or not, it is a miserable and sad way to make a living. A great image, Jane! V

Your image is taken with exactness showing the glass and the holy paper and her pose .
A great image Jane, the light is nice and the image is detailed nicely.
You saw the opportunity and captured it .

Compelling image regardless of the story but isn't that what images are supposed to do...

I too agree with Marisa, but there life is not comfortable like ours. When i see them and seen a lot of them, I have a double feeling.

Nicely framed...I agree with Marisa's analysis!

No matter what the story, it is a very telling image and well captured.

A fine composition, Jane. Sadly, the real back-story is just as Marisa described.

Marisa's comment adds a different twist. Interesting image and comment. V

A well-taken shot of what may well have been a practiced beggar, Jane. *V*

Excellent street capture of this woman whatever it is she is doing. The prostrate position makes for an interesting and unusual subject. V.

I’m sorry to disagree with others’ comment. The photo is interesting and well taken, but there is not any reason for speaking of devotion or drama.
This is a typical posture of gypsy beggars who are present in Italy in front of all the most important churches and tourists sites. They are not really miserable, even though probably their life is not exactly the mist comfortable. They are organized in groups and unfortunately they are often part of a kind of racket of beggary.
I’d say they are professional beggars.
This woman is not in this position because she is praying; they simply stay all like that when they beg.
Believe it or not, in the evening they all go away together, usually on a little van. Everyone in Italy knows that.

A sad image nicely captured.V.

a deep devotion suggested here, and likely a strong wave of feelings...potent image..

Surprising to see at St Marks and not a mosque. You wonder what the life story of this person could be.

Such a very powerful image, and such a sad sight to witness. V.
