Each year, in April, High Island, Texas hosts spectacular bird migration. I spent a week on High Island in April 2006 with a birding tour company. We visited Boy Scout Woods and Smith Oaks on High Island, as well as Bolivar Flats, Anahuac Wildlife Preserve and local rice fields.
