Bob and I went to Colorado with a group of friends in April 2008 to look for various "prairie chickens": Greater Sage Grouse, Gunnison Sage Grouse, Lesser Prairie Chicken, Greater Prairie Chicken, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Chukar, White-tailed Ptarmigan. We put 2400 miles on our vehicle in the pursuit all over the state, and even into Kansas for the Lesser Prairie Chicken. We succeeded with all but the Chukar and the Ptarmigan, and saw many other birds and mammals as well. We also had some memorable experiences with local people. It was a great trip for all.
