This photo was taken on my 7th visit to a Higashiyama Hanatouro. I had just finishing photoing a famous landmark on the Hanatouro course, when I came to this traditional restaurant. What also caught my attention was the fact that there was a rickshaw parked near it.
Now, I guess I wouldn't be eating during Hanatouro time, I'd either eat before or afterward. I'd rather spend the whole three and half hours taking photos. Not everyone is like me, some may wish to enjoy the scenery from a fine restaurant and Kyoto is the place to experience fine dining in Japan. I'm not sure on the prices of this place in particular, but it looks pretty high end. If it is truly a Kaiseki Cuisine (a multi course meal consisting of finely hand crafted food each with matching plates) place, you can expect to pay from 12,000yen per head for dinner (or from 7000yen per head for lunch).
Unfortunately there were multiple types of lighting used to light this scene making white balance a nightmare. So, I processed it from RAW (.NRW file) in DxO Optics Pro and converted it to monochrome. Then I exported it to the Gimp for the finishing touches including split toning.
Note 5-Sep-2015: I've been very busy over the past couple of weeks recording and mixing an English Practice CD for my students. Hopefully I'll have a bit of time to post a few more over the next week (from Monday onward).
