Despite the hot, humid and often rainy weather during summer in Kyoto there are plenty of colourful flowers to see. It was just a matter of getting a fine morning to capture them in the golden morning light. This shot also is the first (and hopefully not the last) from the Mayima RB67 that I've posted to PBase, actual as I've hinted previously a new gallery dedicated to this camera is in the pipeline.
It's also the time of year for fireworks displays in Japan, the 8th of August being the most popular day for them. I didn't get to see any of the displays this year, but we were invited by one of our students' mothers for a fantastic dinner party. Actually on her BLOG (in Japanese) there is an entry on the party. Even if you can't read Japanese you can see the beautiful photos that she took of the food and there's even a shot with Ritsuko and I in it. It was a great night, we had some of the best food so far since moving here last November. We also had plenty of fun playing spinning top battles with the boys.
