Hankyu Trains

In Japan in the big cities there are multiple railway companies owned by private or government companies. Hankyu is a private railway serving Takarazuka, Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto (TOKK is the name of Hankyu's magazine). The Hankyu railway network consists of 3 main lines and 7 branch lines.

We used the Hankyu the most one this trip to Japan, since there was a stop only 2mins walking from Aunty Noriko's house. These photos were taken on our trip from Hankyu's Hanshin-Kokudo station to Hankyu's Arashiyama station on the 04/10/2006.

I used to ride on this line from Rokko to Kobe as a four year old when living in Japan in 1940.

Amazing it does not look much different today than it did then, the cars I mean. Only the color, as I remember, then was green or olive green.

I was also impressed at that age at the speeds the trains already achieved, I believe it was up to 80km an hour.
