Ses Pedreres de S'Hostal are disused sandstone quarries on the outskirts of Ciutadella. Vast holes in the ground left by mechanised quarrying in the 20th century are now used as amphitheatres, while the older, shallower and more irregular manual workings from earlier centuries have been converted into a botanical garden and nature reserve.
