During the New Year celebration many pigs are butchered to celebrate the coming year. The following group of images are a brief summary of the slaughtering of a pig.

I totally agree parmisic, the killing that is done in most all countries around the world is not humane. There is little thought given to the sanctity of life and how to kill the animal with care. I don't eat pig or cow or most any animal but those that do could do so much better.

Well.for those that think that only asians treat animals poorly, perhaps take a look at how pigs are killed in australia..forced into gas chambers.the pigs are terrified because the carbon monixed is so strong that they gasp for air whilst trying to escape their coming death.they are prodded with electric shocks and sharp sticks to stop them trying.I have just watched the video from Animals.forget Australia.All killing is cruel.

I know everything about butchering but i have refused to do it myself. All these people are going to hell trust me.If you can treat an animal who doesnt harm you and doesnt talk back can you imagine what these guys will do to anyone who talks back to them.Only the fear of prison stops this cruel bastards. Pigs are treated so badly and refused any joy in their life. No wonder god has forgoten us.the day will come when humans will pay for this.

That is a female pig by the way.This guys are the cruelest of all.What people eat dogs and cats,this guys do.One day they will pay and I wont honestly give a shit about them.I will seat in my chear drinking beer and saying to my dog, u happy now m8 justice has been done.Im proud I am european.At least we electroshock them first.The do not feel all this cruelty.A neadle is stuck at us at the hospital and we say oh shit that hurt imagine a knife cutting your throat.Before u comment think about what is the right thing to do and what can we do to make things better. We treat creatures that cannot speak or complaint this way, can you imagine what we can do to someone who talks back at us and makes us angry.The laws and fear of prison make us back off.There is no pride in this cruelty.These guys are going to hell at least stop their children from making the same mistake.

The lack of understanding and respect for other peoples cultures, beliefs and ways of life demonstrated in many of these remarks is quite dissapointing. Condeming these practicies without knowledge of, or consideration for, the reasons why these animals are being slaughtered in this way is an unfortunate characteristic of a "morally superior" yet deeply hypocritical western society. One day perhaps we will seek to understand first and judge second.

I was watching a documentry called 'I am the elephant man' filmed in China somewhere. I was stunned/shocked/disgusted/upset to see a clip in this programme of a pig being slaughtered fully concious just because a neighbour had died and they had to feed the people in mourning. I know these people have their beliefs but I find it unbeleivable that things can happen in this day and age. Surely they can cull these animals in a humane way that's if they have to cull them at all. Hoping somewhere somebody can do something to save these poor animals.

God created all of us...man and animal...we were to care and reign over all earthly kingdoms. When we must kill to eat we should do so with quickness and dignity not just for the animal, but for ourselves, pain is pain and we should be sensitive to it no matter if it is from an animal or person.

It is much the same around the world. Here in the US animals for food are for the most part treated horrible. Chickens are dipped alive in boiling water to both kill them and to allow for the defeathering. They are kept in horrible conditions when alive all so people can put them on their dinner table. Cows, pigs animals of all types with rare exception do not have a very good life. If people had to raise and kill their own animals for food in the US maybe things would be different here, maybe not.

i agree, animal sacrifices do not seem "taboo" to those are more open minded towards an image shown. all cultures used some form of animal sacrifice..yes..even the Lord took the offering of the lamb. offering=animal sacrifice

this looks like an animal sacrifice according to what i see from my own culture. animal activists need to chill out when they see images such as this one. there is a big difference between mindlessly killing an innocent animal versus killing one for cutural purposes. yes its pretty gruesome but how else are they suppose to do it. i respect all animal lifeforms and their right to life but sometimes thats just the way things go...

I ate no meat for about 20 years and then I was told by my doctor that I needed this protein. I ate meat for a few years but I have stopped. I deplore the disgraceful way animals are treated and the lack of the simplest respect for their life.

Pigs on today’s farms are denied their every desire; they never run across sprawling pastures, bask in the sun, breathe fresh air, or do anything else that comes naturally to them. Mother pigs (sows) spend most of their lives in tiny “gestation” crates, which are too small for them to turn around in. They are continually impregnated until they are slaughtered. Piglets are taken away from their distraught mothers after just a few weeks, and their tails are chopped off, the ends of their teeth are snipped off with pliers, and the males are castrated. No painkillers are given to ease their suffering. Because of improper stunning methods, many pigs are still alive when they are dumped into scalding-hot water, which is intended to remove their hair and soften their skin. When they’re killed, male pigs are still babies, only about 6 months old. Since their natural life span is 6 to 9 years, they never mature to enjoy a full life. On any given day in the United States, about 1,000 pigs are killed every hour. The average American meat-eater is responsible for the abuse and deaths of approximately 31 pigs. Actor Cameron Diaz, upon hearing that pigs have the mental capacity of a 3-year-old human child, decided never to eat pigs again, saying “[Eating bacon is] like eating my niece!” Please don’t support an industry that abuses these fascinating animals by the billions
