**Slaughter of dogs. As seen in the market place.** **Graphic**

This was very hard for me to document. Coming from a country that normally values dogs as friends, seeing them clubbed to death with a piece or iron after being grabbed around the neck by a pair of large tongs, was very difficult for me to observe. I have not put up images of everything in the process as I could not, due to my own feelings, document the clubbing after dragging a screaming dog, while tongs were crushing its neck. Dogs are often placed in bags that are tied around their neck so that only their head is exposed so that they can be piled or placed whereever desired. I have seen them stacked 3 and 4 high appearing listless and numb.

On a recent visit to a fairly remote village we were informed that they thought we would like eating dog so they killed their 6 month old pet in honor of our visit. Upon learning that we do not eat dog they admitted they were saddened by the loss of their dog and missed him.

The poor dog's suffering in the above pictures, plus the earthquake in China killing thousands, I guess the playing field has been leveled - literally. No tears here.

And, John Amato, why don't you add all the pictures to your gallery? The suffering and torture of these poor animals SHOULD be documented and SHOULD be seen by all. Otherwise, we are condoning these vicious acts.

How can ANYONE say that this is because of "culture"? This isn't "culture", this is a boy's club where one guy says, "I won't tell on you if you don't tell on me." And it's accepted as such - BY MALES. The blind and stupid leading the F***ing blind and stupid. For ANYONE not to show empathy to another species' pain and suffering is not acceptable and is NOT CULTURE! These are males stroking each other's shafts. Their only concern is for their sadism and verility. Always, these God-damn guys and their constant worry about their verility! Killing off and torturing different species just because of their single-mindedness about their pricks! The "customer" in that picture showing him squeezing the poor dog's testicles with pincers and laughing. Man, would I EVER wish to do that to him!

This is disgusting!!! SHAME on any body who MURDERS God's creatures including foremost HUMAN beings!!!

The poor doggies, we must love and respect all people and ANIMALS as God has created each and every one equally. People like this should be prosecuted and castrated of their genitals to serve as a CLEAR reminder of what they have done and see then how many ruthless PIGS of the devil will carry out this inhumane behaviout!! LORD HAVE MERCY!!!

What can we do to stop it? I feel so powerless ! The ignorance shocks me but the lack of compassion and inability to hear that these animals have souls like the rest of us- feel love like the rest of us etc scares the daylights out of me what this world is about. And yes , it happens here too in the private homes of inhumane cold hearted people who neglect and abuse animals- what can we do?

I hate to see any animal treated this way, but I don't think it's quite fair to demonize the countries for their treatment of animals alone. Not that I feel that anyone has done that here, but it happens.

A. These people have an established culture. Americas established culture lately has caused us to have incidents of treating POW's like this. One should not be so quick to judge.

B. We have veal gates. That is a very tragic instance of animal husbandry that's readily accepted in the West.

BTW, lovely photos all around. There's a truth in your eye, friend.

What gets me is how people can't see that this is done to get them a bigmac, or a turkey dinner.

Meat is what it is. Sad, but just because it is socially acceptable to Western civs to eat cow, pig and chicken, you can't judge them for eating this. America can't even spay and neuter their animals, and this whole thing makes me sick. I'm done talking.

Yes, there are dogs raised just for meat but the way they are treated is horrible. Stacked with just their heads sticking out of bags and tortured to see which one is the most aggressive and potentially best to eat. I have witnessed this and many other things. Yes, dogs are raised for pets and 55,000 were slaughtered in Yunnan Province because of rabbies. Dogs are not the main carrier of rabbies but most any mammal can get rabbies and bats are known to be a carrier. Many of the dogs slaughtered during the rabbies scare were clubbed to death in front of their owners who didn't even know of the decree.

What I object to is the inhumane way the dogs raised for meat are treated in China and anywhere else where they are treated like this. Animals are sometimes treated poorly in the USA and people are taken to court and sometimes imprisnoned. The dogs that I have seen here in China for consumption are on public display and tortured in the public view with no concern from anyone or any public official.

In China, some breeds of dogs are raised just for their meat.
In China, there are many dogs are raised as pets too.
