Townsley's PSR (Plotting, Switchboard & Radio) Room

Battery Townsley's sensitive plotting and communication equipment were located in a separate underground casemate located several hundred yards from the actual battery to protect them from the damaging effects of concussion when the large guns fired. Separate rooms were provided for the Plotting Room, the Switchboard room, a radio/telephone room, latrine, a small generator, and ventilating equipment.

The entire structure was gas-proofed and during attack soldiers would have been entered and left the PSR through air locks. "Prison type" bunks hanging by chains provided uncomfortable sleeping space for a couple of dozen men.

The Townsley PSR Room remains in an excellent state of preservation, even including the original crew bunks suspended from the walls.
