Like so many other industries, the Swedish sugar industry has been subject to massive rationalizations the last years. Traditionally located adjacent to local beet farmers, the sugar processing has now been centralized to only a few places, leaving a large number of abandoned sites behind. Most often, there is no need for the land and space at the sites, and the buildings are just left to deteriorate. Some valuable scrap is removed, but otherwise, just a ghost-like building is left...
Update summer 2008: The place has now lefts it state of abandonment and massive demolitions are in progress. Parts are to be salvaged and are to be re-used for a new venture.
