Lustigkulla

Lustigkulla mine is a strange place, located in a steep hillside out in a dense forest. It somewhat gives the feeling of a teenager’s fort, built of some locally collected scrap. The current facilities from the latest mining period 1972-1974 are fairly anonymous, but its mining history reaches back to 1839. It seems like the operations have had its ups and downs over the years, reflecting the market prices for the ore.

As the mine is located in a steep hill, the water level is some 70 meters below the shaft head, but its damp, slippery and rotten interiors seem to make a deeper exploration hell way too dangerous, at least for my personal taste. At this place, no one will hear you screm, I can tell..
