The standard design comprises two layers of doors. The outer ones (which are fully retracted in this picture) were designed to take the first hit and make the bomb explode. The inner ones is a pair of very heavy steel cages, filled with rock. These doors would then take the blast.

The design is made not to be sealed, as a huge amount of air needs to be sucked in to cool the equipment
