Large fans were required to ventilate out all heat generated by the converters. Even with a high efficiency, say 95% or so, for every MVA of output power, some 50kW of heat would be generated. Without full knowledge of the dimensioned power of this station, we're most likely somewhere in the 30-50 MVA range, which then would be some 2 MW of heat - and that's a lot !
