This spaceship-like building holds the motors and drivetrain for two of the cableway's four sections as well as the master control and supervision. The cableway's main workshops are seen in the background.

The tall mast holds the microwave link that allows the other sections to be controlled and monitored from here. This system was installed as late as 1987 and replaced a less reliable relay/wire based system. It seems however like this is one of the big challenges of keeping the installation operational for the future - how do you find spare parts (and skill) for repairing +20 years old electronics and computer systems? "Well, we had a disk crash on the PDP-11 - let's call Digital... Er, Compaq... Eh, Hewlett-Packard service..."
