LC4S6937.jpg

A closeup of the logo of the mining company "Ställbergsbolagen" at the very top of the head frame. This sign was once fitted with blue neon tubes. It must have been very elegant to spot the head frame from a far distace with this bluish glowing jewel on its top back in the good ol' days...

An identical sign, equally elegant can be seen on the top of the Stripa mine http://www.pbase.com/jakobe/image/38716853 , the adjacent Haggruvan mine http://www.pbase.com/jakobe/image/48416336 as well as the Polhem mine http://www.pbase.com/jakobe/image/48355386

Mining company "Ställbergsbolagen" can be translated into "The Ställberg Companies" was during several periods in the 1900s Sweden's second largest ore exporter after LKAB/Gränges. After the turbulent years in the 1970s with all its mine closures and the final closure of Värmlandsberg in 1980, the company vanished.

snyggt synd att märket börjar rosta bort. borde varit skoj att se hur det såg ut i mörkret
