After the mine was closed in 1979, the rail line Grängesberg-Ludvika lost its importance, although some amount of ore was still loaded from nearby Saxberget mine. The line was closed in 1981 and dismantled in 1992-1997. The former track bed has been converted to a combined bicycle- and footpath.
