The story is the same – structural changes in the post-WWII era caused a massive onslaught on small mills out in the countryside. A few huge top-modern mills replaced hundreds of small units all over the country in a matter of a twenty year time period.
This particular one was taken over by one of the giants back in 1958 and was closed immediately. When walking around in these dark, empty and silent premises one has to think twice to imagine that it all closed fifty years ago and it has been silent since then.
The mill seems to have been extended several times where the oldest, all-wooden section being from the late 1800s, the first all-brick section from around 1900 and the second section from around 1940 or so.
As seen in other mills, the equipment apparently had a second-hand value and most of the installations were removed and sold. Just the atmosphere is left...
