The abandoned ore concentration plant

The post-WWII boom in the iron ore demand pushed the producers to steeply increase the productivity in an overall old-fashioned and labor intensive industry. During the 1950's, introduction of modern concentration plants phased out traditional lump ore in favor of pulverized concentrate, known as "slig".

This unit was ultra-modern when it was opened in the mid-1950's, but have shared the fate with the majority of the European iron mines. The raw concrete, the giant halls, the absolute silence and the relative feeling that someone just pulled the plug gives a surrealistic feeling.
