The abandoned explosives factory

This chemical plant in Poland was founded as an explosives factory back in the 1920s and appears to have gradually expanded its menu over the years, probably with other nitrogen compounds traditionally being the expertise of explosives makers. This large factory site is today partly demolished and it appears like it did not survive long after the communist regime in Poland perished. Like for so many other industries in the eastern bloc, the transformation into a market economy was a one-way trip down the drain. When state-owned industries were sold out, there was no way a highly effective western chemical company would overtake an old fashioned, inefficient and polluted industry like this one with the resposibilities following it.

Some scattered dirty businesses seem to have overtaken parts of the site and presumably the site is overall contaminated with nasty spills so one can assume it is not particularly attractive for anyone else.

Too late - again, but a very good site anyway...
