So glad to see this Darrin. I was living in Houston about 12 years ago when I heard a feature about Stephen on NPR. I was struck by the voice and the quality of the songwriting. I picked up the "Light Pink Album" later that day and it has held a special place in my music collection ever since. I love to play it for friends and watch their stunned reactions. I will search out his latest recording as well. Great update and photos.

Millions already know his music. To say he's a prolific songwriter is an understatement. Stephen Allen Davis' list of accomplishments in the songwriting industry is lengthy and enviable. Over 400 of his songs have been recorded, 18 # 1 songs, including cuts on over 20 gold albums, 14 platinum and 10 multi-platinum albums, and he has been honored with 22 prestigious BMI Awards in Pop, R & B and Country for the most performed songs of the year. Stephen's own story is as wondrous as his songs. At age seventeen he walked into a publisher's office on Nashville's Music Row with guitar in hand and played a few tunes for the guy in charge. The publisher, nonplussed with the songs, decided to pass on Stephen's material. Stephen insisted on playing one last tune before accepting defeat. That last song was "Take Time to Know Her" - and it caught the publisher's ear. Soon the world embraced "Take Time To Know Her" as Percy Sledge took this powerful ballad to the top of the charts selling over two and a half million units worldwide. This early success was just the beginning of a long and brilliant songwriting career. Stephen's songs have been cut by many other diverse artists, including Joe Cocker, Diana Ross, the Divinlys, Frank Sinatra, Meatloaf, John Hiatt, Kenny Rogers, Tammy Wynette and Reba McIntyre. His most recent Billboard, R&R & Gavin No. 1 cut was the Jo Dee Messina single, "Stand Beside Me." A brilliantly talented singer and performer in his own right, Stephen Allen Davis has recorded an incredible collection of his own songs. The Light Pink Album showcases 14 diverse and unforgettable songs delivered with the passion and depth only revealed by a true artist. The album includes Davis' own emotive delivery of the classic "Take Time To Know Her". Find out why industry executives, artists and songwriters from London to LA have this CD permanently placed in their CD players at home." Now there is the newest addition to his catalog. A global release of "The Desert Sessions", recorded at his studio in Pinecliffe, Colorado. This is another collection of very soulful, naked, spiritual songs and performances. The live DVD included in the package, that was filmed and recorded at the spectacular Boulder Theatre in Boulder, Co. has been picked up by PBS and will be distributed through out the States and Europe. This set really reflects the depth and the soul of this wonderfully unique performer. A must for people who take their music seriously.
