Son of John and Mary Lea Willcox and brother of Gen. Mark Willcox. John III owned much land and served his county in the State Legislature. He and his wife, Louisa Ann Conner Willcox (died 1884), are buried on the home place near Temperance, a community between Jacksonville and Rhine, Ga. His first wife, Mary Daniel, daughter of John Daniel, Rev. Soldier, died in 1843.
