Ben Williams was one of six sons of Joseph Gooden Williams. In birth order they were: James K. Polk Williams (1845-1890), George Morris Williams (1847-1905), Ben Williams (1850-1926), Moses Williams (1857-1924), Robert Williams (1860-1928), and Josiah Williams (1865-1925). It is said that Ben Williams surrendered with Gen. Lee at Appomattox but he must have been a very young CSA soldier, being born in 1850. He wears what appears to be his war medals on his coat in the photo. Ben Williams was the father of Bunk Williams and the grandfather of Floyd and Barclay Williams. [Photo Credit: Joe Williams]
