After the untimely death of her brother at the age of 22 Aaltje de Jong continued his recently established photography studio at the address Nieuwe Stad 53 (Smalle zijde) from 1895 up to 1934. After some years she opened extra branches in Heerenveen (1898 Bij de Grote Kerk, 1910 Op de Fok) en Sneek (1902 Kleinzand 28, 1930 Kleinzand 30). From 1909 up to at least 1914 the studio used this 'art nouveau' design with year of issue printed at the top of the card.
