More or less from left to right is a Sioux contemporary pot made on a pottery wheel. (The Native Americans never developed the wheel except as small spinning top-like toys for children, so they never developed the pottery wheel). The small colorful pot in the front with the red “X” is Hopi with the initials R.M.M. on the bottom, made in the traditional “coiled rope” manner. The larger colorful pot directly behind this one is also Hopi, also made in the traditional coiled rope manner. The signed name on the bottom is Neva Reyna from the Road Runner clan. The beautiful white and black contemporary stylized pot on the far right is Hopi, made in the traditional coiled rope manner. It was a gift from my wife’s recent trip to New Mexico and is signed Vuii SR. The large double-neck pot in the back is a contemporary cast-piece. It is erroneously labeled Navaho and is identified as a “Navaho Wedding Pot”, but in fact, the design is an ancient Hopi design from the Laguna Pueblo.
