Cobalt Blue - 01/09/06

Tallahassee / Quincy, Florida

In ancient Rome, glass that became known as “Cobalt Blue” was developed for the very first time. This was actually a very good thing, because for the very first time since the beginning of time a glass product was developed that made drinking sanitary. Prior to that time only wooden bowls or goblets were used, and food poisoning was rampant. Cobalt Blue Glass is still a stunningly beautiful product today, and my wife Gerie and I have been collectors for years. All of our dishware, bowls, goblets, glasses, plates, vases and other decorative pieces are all Cobalt Blue, and I often tease her that the only reason I married her is because she owned a stunning milk pitcher that I coveted. There is something so beautiful and elegant about the glass, and to the day I die I will enjoy the daily use of it in my home.

Love that Mug, and I kept a wine bottle recently simply because it was that shade of electric blue called cobalt.
