Shipping The Wig! - Aug 19

Tallahassee / Quincy, Florida

It was with a heavy heart that John packed up the
Purple World Wide Wig to send it to the next person on the list, …
but he wondered why it weighed so much more now than it had when it came.

It’s Freaky Self Portrait Friday, …
and John waves “bye bye” to the Purple WWW.

Photographer’s note: - So where is the Purple WWW being sent now? From here it’s being sent to, … well, … wait and see. It’s been to Nevada where it started, San Francisco, Switzerland, Los Angeles, Toronto, several places in England, Scotland, Michigan, Utah and now Florida.

The “Purple World Wide Wig” started its life in 2003 at the Burningman art and music festival. “Trying to explain what Burning Man is to someone who has never been to the event is a bit like trying to explain what a particular color looks like to someone who is blind.”– http://www.burningman.com/ Each year, participants from around the world travel to a dusty windswept desert playa on the outskirts of Gerlach, Nevada to build and reside in a counter-culture community of radical self-expression and art otherwise known as “Black Rock City”.

It’s only fitting that the wig started its crazy photographic journey at the Burningman event. The founder of the wig’s travels is PBase’s own “Wacky Genius, … er, … Jeannius” Jeanne, and this link http://www.pbase.com/jeannius/wig will show you a tiny record of the many wonderful and creative folks that has used the wig to share the images with you, … and me, … and all of us.

So where is it going next? I know of course, … and Jeanne, … and the person getting it, … but perhaps it should also be sent to you. Click on Jeanne’s link and ask to be put on the list! It’s been a blast, … and you’ll have a blast with it as well, … and then you too will be part of the permanent recorded travels of the Purple WWW.

You're shipping that to the next guy on the list,
Al Khyda, right?

LOL, good one John! (sigh- and the pity about living so close to Jeanne? I'll be LAST to get the wig)

My mother always told me ... when you borrow something return it with something extra. But I don't think this is what she had in mind :)

Okay, when the wig gets to me, I hope it is sans head. CLEVER!--Rene

Shredded paper? I'd have thought that styrofoam peanuts would have been more appropriate for packing a large nut. It's been fun seeing the variety of photos you've posted with that wig John. Truly unfortunate that I was unable to make it over to your place for some photos of my own. I should never have moved that couch up those steps... (sigh)
