a lot of people commented that the yolk is longer than expected so the arms came a bit long (especially someone who did the xs size (one said arms 7" too long; also, one said ran out of color 1 (needed 1 more ball); 2 people said it took 4 skeins of base color

When the pattern has you slip stitches for the sleeves it has you do both sleeve holes (?) at once, go knit the sleeves, and then add the sleeves on. I don’t think that’s correct. I’m going back to the first arm/sleeve hole and waiting there until I have a sleeve to add on before proceeding to the next sleeve. I think it might have been a pattern typo? I got the kit from her a year or so ago so this may have been caught and corrected already.

For the sleeve increases I did the last two over 10 rows instead of 16 rows to keep the sleeves a more manageable length. First sleeve is now completes and attached. I kitchner stitched the set aside stitches and left a long tail so I can go back and close up any holes once the yoke is further along.

Both sleeves are completed and attached! I wish every sweater had you knit the sleeves and then attach them. it’s genuinely my favorite way to knit them.

About halfway through the yoke colorwork. Wasn’t a huge fan of working the short rows but they look good. Working them bottom up was a new experience for sure. I did Japanese short rows instead of the suggested German short rows as they are far more invisible for me when I knit.

Finished the sweater! Depsite my best efforts the sleeves and torso are longer than I intended. I underestimated how long the yoke is. despite that I am happy with how it’s looking. Waiting for it to finish blocking to add my final thoughts.

Stretchy bind off at the neckline looks funny and flared out. I recommend using a different bind off.
Sleeves are too long - I should have shortened it at least 1” from the pattern.
Pattern is not kind for first timers on bottoms-up pullover construction. Needed to watch a few videos to understand what I’m supposed to do when connecting the yoke and sleeves. There is also a gap in the underarm after sewing up using Kitchener stitches so make sure to have enough length of yarn to bind off the holes on both sides of the armpit hole.

I bought this kit directly from Violent Cat Lady since I really couldn’t imagine better colors than she chose and I was looking for a mellow project. I made a few modifications in the construction using a twisted German cast on for sleeve cuffs and sweater hem to give a clean and stretchy edge. Used Icelandic bind off for collar. I prefer these methods to the long tail CO and normal BO specified in the pattern. Otherwise followed pattern. The arms are a bit long for me so I would consider making them a little shorter than the 12 inches the pattern calls for. The only other mod I would make is to change this from a bottom up tin top down construction but that’s also a personal preference. Overall a great project that comes together quickly and is so very pretty!
