The 4th day we spent cycling around Paris before finding accomodation near Orly Airport. Of course, first in the iterinary was Arch d' Triumphe, then Eiffel Tower, Lourves and Notre Dame. Cycling was easy -- sharing lanes with buses, and motorists were considerate. Cyclists even had priority over pedestrians. At the same time we kept our eyes opened for bicycle shops to get boxes for our bikes, but believe me -- you might as well forget it. Instead we just did the minimum requirements -- removed pedals and turned the handle bar facing back. That's it, and just hoped the airlines won't reject them for loading into the plane.
Total distance Chatham-Paris 408 km in 4 days. Plus 25km cycling around Paris. Apart from the diarrhoae and fever, it was challenging and fun. Wish, though, I had my 5.8kg racing bike instead. I would have enjoyed the long rolling hills even more.
