Yangon, Myanmar (Christmas 2003)

My three-day visit to Yangon. Myanmar is of the least visited tourist destinations in Asia, but really worth visiting. Clean city, soft-natured people, no crimes, and some good hotels (anything wood in hotel buildings is usually teak). Popular sights are pagodas, pagodas, and pagodas. Unfortunately, since July 2003, credit cards cannot be used in hotels, shops and mostly anywhere. Because of that, maybe this is the best time to shop for rubies and sapphires--if you carry a large amount of cash. I am hoping to visit Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake next time--with loads of money, of course.

hi yr pics are really beautiful. we visited bagan last dec - go for the sunrise - so beautiful and unearthly and inle is a gem. we went out of mandalay to pyin oo lwin - maymyo old name... also v clean and beautiful

the nicest vibes are found in myingyan where a fully enlightened saint (arahat) die 50 years ago - but the town's air is so clean and carefree and wholesome - and their trees are majestic.

i hv been to burma over 10 times. i visited cambodia last year too but somehow
the vibes are very different....

burmese folks still practise compassion and keep their 5 precepts clean....
and afraid of doing bad karma....

and people are just so spiritual there even little kids can recite very profound
buddhism. tho they dont understand, but at least chanting it is better than nothing....
