IKIRIN HIGHJACK

I thought this happens in the movies only. Do not read while eating.

Picture shows a truck lying on its side after it rolled backwards from
an uphill part of the road in Brgy. Ikirin, Pagbilao, Quezon. The truck
is facing Atimonan-bound while the camera is facing Pagbilao proper.
The site is just a walking distance from my house. My house is at a
point shown in the picture where the trees in both sides of the road meet
overhead.

The incident occured at about 2:30AM on Thursday Sept 16. While the
truck is climbing uphill at the curve after our neighborhood, the truck
driver was reportedly shot. As a result, the truck rolled backwards and
the left side wheels ran over a small hill on the left side of the
road, causing it to lie on its right side. Two men were seen running away
from the truck and went into the woods after that. They were running
towards ours neighborhood before they turned right towards the woods.

The driver was found dead in the truck and his companion was reported
MISSING. Later in the day, someone recovered the cargo and transfered
them to another truck. The cargo was said to be not too valuable for a
highjacker since there were only instant noodles and jellies - some
sari-sari store stuff.

Having happened four days ago, this story is supposed to be too old,
even if the truck stayed on the roadside until now. But there was a new
twist to the story:

Just this morning, Sunday Sept 19, a local resident reported a foul
smell coming from the truck. Later, with the help of the hydraulic
strength of a payloader, the police found a rotting corpse, later identified
as the MISSING driver's companion, under the truck. The dead man was
still in possession of the money which the highjackers apparently failed
to get from him. I heared that the policeman and the funeral worker
were seen avoiding taking custody of the money. No one just wanted to
touch anything from the rotting corpse.
