Root Canal Fix After Treatment

Just for the record. The tooth on the right had had a root canal many years ago. I didn't remember the doctor's name or location. This time I want to remember both. Dr. James C. Ewing, Carolina Mountain Endodontics.

I had been having a sore gum above this tooth and the one next to it for YEARS and all dentists told me was to use a WaterPik. Recently, I had throbbin pain in that area that was so bad I had to take pain Killers. Went to a new dentist who took a very specialized scan and told me I had a sinus infection. (Tooth pain can come from a sinus infection.0 She prescribed an antibiotic and that took care of the pain. Also told me to make an appointment with an endodontist, for which I had to wait a few weeks. While I was waiting for the endontist appointment the pain came back though not as bad.

The endodontist took another scan and told me I had an infection in the right tooth and that the root canal had to be redone. That was done today and he told me the original endodontist had missed one root and that the other roots weren't filled deeply enough. I'm hoping that when the discomfort following the procedure goes away the pain will be gone. By the way, if you are squeamish about having a root canal treatment, ask the doctor to give you a prescription for a strong tranquilizer to take an hour before the procedure and get someone to drive you to and from the dental office.)

I'm sharing this in case someone who reads this has had dental pain that a "regular" dentist can't diagnose - see an endodontist!

Been to an endodontist many times for several root canals. Only way to go!
