Why only the corners?

The Asheville Mushroom Enthusiasts Facebook group tells me that they didn't grow from the middle because that area of the block dried out. I have to spray the block a couple of times (or more) a day. Have to find my humidifier. Put it away at the end of last season's humidifier time and of course don't know where I put it!
