Waffle Maker Hash Browns

How many internet hints do you actually try? I was fascinated with the suggestion that you prepare hash browns in a waffle make, and gave it a try this morning.

Suggest if you want to try this that you spray the waffler grids with a nonstick cooking spray that DOESN'T contain silicone (a sure way to get a permanent sticky buildup that ends the non-stick qualities).

Set the timer on the waffle maker to maximum and let the hash browns cook beyond the bing (if you have one) till there's no steam rising from the machine.

We like our hash browns crispy and this way a great way to cook them - it avoids the splattering from the copious oil you have to use in a skillet (no oil required with these) and difficulty of turning them.

Please note: These have pepperoni and shredded cheddar cheese added. The grease from them added to the nice color of the potatoes. Made them this morning without those two and they didn't look as good.

Try with sweet potatoes? May need to parboil first.

We like crispy hash browns too. I will have to try this. It will save room at the stove to cook bacon and eggs!
