I had a lovely parsley hedge growing from seed that had been dropped from last year's parsley and suddenly it collapsed. When I pulled out the limp plants they had no root system. Seems we're under a very bad vole attack. I searched the web for a legal solution and decided to try ShakeAway. It doesn't have five stars, but it did have several positive reviews.
