A unique area, located primarily in eastern Washington, the Palouse can be likened to a 4000 square mile sea of gently rolling, asymmetrical hills, making it a photographer's dreamscape. These rolling hills were not sculpted by rivers or creeks, as one might expect, but by wind blown silt carried over the centuries by huge dust storms, making this one of the world's richest agricultural regions. In addition to growing peas, lentils, barley, and canola, the Palouse is the world's leader in the production of white winter wheat. In June, the wind dunes of this seductive agricultural landscape are bathed in hundreds of shades of green that change with the changing light. It is truly a magical experience.
