Poulnabrone

Located on the limestone pavement of the Burren, Poulnabrone is one of the most famous Irish dolmens (a megalithic tomb with a large flat capstone supported by two upright portal stones), dating back to about 2500BC. Excavations of the site found that between 16 and 22 adults and 6 children were buried under the monument along with many of their personal items.

Wonderful in B&W! The clouds, the capstone, the stones on the ground all seem to lead us there...

There is something so mystical about this image. The fact that it is so very old and there are humans buried underneath gives me a feeling of forbiddenness, I like how you gave this to a monochromatic treatmentwhich makes the structure seem like it melds right into the foreground. Wonderful array of textures!
