Havana: A Sense of Place

A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982, Old Havana (Habana Vieja) has been around for close to 500 years and many of its colonial building date back to the 1700's. Today, Habana Vieja is a mixture of crowded narrow streets, beautiful plazas, amazing music, food and drink, elegant restored baroque and neoclassical buildings, and crumbling colonial structures where the poorest of Havana's poor reside. The best way to explore is to get a map and start walking. You will find Old Havana to be a treasure trove of diverse delights. It is nostalgic, charming, lively, colorful, historic and welcoming. I hope some of the images in this gallery will give you a sense of this most interesting place.

The colors of the old cars, buildings, etc. are enchanting. Love the house of Jose Fuster and the stairs decorated by artists. You have the eye, my friend, and made me want to travel to Havana.
